Multiple Grammy winning four-piece Franz Ferdinand have just released their fourth studio album, “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Wight Action,” and it certainly does not disappoint!  The exuberant feel of the record will have both pop and indie rock lovers out of their seats and dancing with joy right from the first track, the infectious “Right Action.” The dance party continues onto a personal favorite of mine, “Evil Eye,” which combines pop beats with an undeniably spooky instrumental backing.  The album takes a surprisingly angsty turn with “Love Illumination,” but bounces right back to it’s indie-dance specialty with bangers like “Treason! Animals.” and “Stand On The Horizon.” While the songs of “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action” may touch on multiple different genres, they all have one thing in common: they’re all amazing, and remind us why Franz Ferdinand caught our ear to begin with. Relentless, in-your-face energetic rock ‘n’ roll.

Jonas Brothers are back with a whole new single this time around. Ready to put your pom poms down for Jonas Brothers new tunes? June 25th  the group’s new single, “First Time,” will be released so only a month and half to go.

The track supposedly was leaked earlier this week and the guys addressed the unauthorized first listen on Thursday. So some lucky listeners got to hear it first……. Shame on you! No I’m kidding. Or am I?

This is how the Jonas Brothers reacted to the leak:

“Crazy the #firsttime was on iTunes early but for everyone that didn’t get it make sure to grab it on the 25th!!” Kevin wrote, with Joe tweeting, “Well looks like our next single first time was put on iTunes for 12 hours [on Wednesday]. . . … For those of you who are quick and downloaded it.. Congrats hope you like it. For the rest of you.. JUNE 25th!!!”

Whereas the band opted for the up-tempo “Pom Poms” to set the tone for their 2013 album release. The trio will drop the less peppy “First Time” as the next cut off the still-untitled follow-up to 2010’s Vines Lines and Trying Times.

Weeks after they drop “First Time,” the guys will kick off their summer tour on July 10 in Chicago. The Brothers each tweeted a picture that their opening act will be no other than Karmin.

Rock legends Van Halen have officially announced that they are working on new music!  Frontman David Lee Roth spilled:

“We are going to be getting together, not this month, at the end of June to start preparing for some new recording and some new songs.”

BUT – Don’t get too excited just yet, because Roth has warned that the music may take a while to be released.  After all, insuring your dangly bits does take time out of the man’s schedule.

“We plan ahead by about two-and-a-half years in advance, which sounds extravagant, but from the time you go, ‘Let’s start to write some songs,’ until all of the machines of production and humanity kick in, things move achingly slow — achingly slow. Especially if you are art-centric, if you want something to last, it’s going to take a long time to put it all together. Quick up is quick down. We know about one-hit-wonders and we know about fast, but it’s about three years, it takes about three years.”

…Three years? THREE YEARS?!

LAME. Oh well, I’m sure it’ll be a great album anyway!  See ya in THREE YEARS!

As I previously reported, Iggy and the Stooges recently announced their comeback album, “Ready To Die” on Fat Possom Records. “Ready To Die” will be Iggy and the Stooges first album since 2007’s “The Weirdness.” Although the full record will not be out until late April, I am THRILLED to bring you the brand-spankin’-new track, “Burn!”  “Burn” is a true rock and roll gem, complete with screaming guitars and Mr. Pop’s expected gravelly, snarling vocals.  You can take a listen for yourself below, and remember to mark your calendar for April 30th, when “Ready To Die” is out worldwide!

STOP WHATEVER YOU’RE DOING BECAUSE THE NEW JIMI HENDRIX ALBUM CAME OUT TODAY!

Phew, okay, I’m calm.

As we all know, and still cry about sometimes, the God of guitar, Jimi Hendrix, has been dead for well over 40 years. Luckily for the world, the people in control of Hendrix’s estate release an album of completely new, from-the-vault material every couple of years to keep his name and influence alive. While the new album features classic Hendrix jam-band sounds, it surprised me by featuring plenty of experimental material, keeping me guessing as to what would come next, until the very last second. Janie Hendrix, Jimi’s step-sister, commented on his official website about the new direction of the album, saying:

“The new tracks and album show a creative path Hendrix was looking to explore, the recordings encompass a variety of unique sounds and styles incorporating many of the elements—horns, keyboards, percussion, and second guitar—Jimi wanted to incorporate within his new music. ‘People, Hell and Angels,’ presents some of the finest Jimi Hendrix guitar work ever issued and provides a compelling window into his growth as a songwriter, musician and producer.”

The first single off the album was “Somewhere,” which was a blues classic with a psychedelic twist, and featured fellow legends Buddy Miles (on drums) and Stephen Stills (on bass). The song simply BELONGS at an outdoor music festival, and the trippy vibe will have you relaxed and completely tranced-out in no time. Other songs on the album, like the instant-classics “Bleeding Heart,” “Villanova Junction Blues,” and “Hey Gypsy Boy” stick to the bluesy feel, and are perfectly paired with the poetic lyrics that resonate as classic Hendrix.

If you’re looking for something a little different, check out “Earth Blues,” which demonstrates a surprisingly tame – but no less fantastic – Hendrix, complete with female backing vocals that sound way ahead of their time.  Another great listen is, “Let Me Move You,” which displays the influence that Hendrix’s time spent with Little Richard had on his unique musical style.

Overall, “People, Hell, and Angels,” is a fabulous compilation that highlights Hendrix’s vast knowledge of different guitar styles, lyrical content, and distortion techniques that should not be missed. The album is available now on iTunes. So, take a listen, and as Jimi once said:

“When I die, just keep on playing the records.”

Even though the rockers of Pop Evil are just finishing up their latest album, they were so eager to share some new music with their fans that they released a new single, “Trenches,” on their official Facebook page today.  From the first play, “Trenches,” off the band’s new album, “Onyx,” will have you turning up the volume and screaming the aggressive, heartfelt lyrics.  When asked about the inspiration for the song, Pop Evil frontman Leigh Kakaty explained:

“It’s about our battles. Not focusing on the things we can’t control, if we really want to be a band that stands the test of time we have to write the music that connects. We have to dig our way out of the trenches.”

The songs mixture of powerful vocals, incredible drumming, and insane guitar riffs will have you riled up and looking for a fight in no time, and if you’re anything like me, will become one of your new favorites.  You can take a listen to “Trenches” below, and make sure to mark your calendars for March 14th, Pop Evil’s when “Onyx” is due for release!

David Bowie’s new album may be titled “The Next Day,” but DON’T put this off!  Bowie has just released a stream of his new album via iTunes today for free, and according to the glam rock icon’s official Facebook page, will be available until the album’s official release on March 12th.  You can check out the stream here, and let us know your opinion!  Do you think “The Next Day” lived up to the hype, or has King Bowie lost his touch?

Get excited, because everyone’s favorite shirtless stage diver, Iggy Pop, is set to make a the comeback with his band, Iggy and the Stooges, we’ve all been waiting for on April 30th! The record will feature Iggy Pop joined by James Williamson (guitar,) Scott “Rock Action” Asheton (drummer,) and Mike Watt on bass, who is filling in for the late Ron Asheton. When asked about the record, Iggy said:

“My motivation in making any record with the group at this point is no longer personal. It’s just a pig-headed fucking thing I have that a real fucking group when they’re an older group they also make fucking records. They don’t just go and twiddle around on stage to make a bunch of fucking money…”

No, you are not being Daft “Punked” (buh dum chhh) the electronic duo has confirmed that they will be releasing their comeback album this May! It’s been a long couple of years since 2005’s hit “Human After All,” came out, and many had lost hope of the duo ever returning after rumors of them headlining Coachella proved to be false. The still-unnamed album will be the first the group has done after separating from Virgin Records, but fear not, because they have a slew of famous friends to help them out, including Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams, Panda Bear (of Animal Collective,) and Giorgio Moroder! Can’t wait to see what they have in store!

So, imagine this:

You’ve been stranded on a desert island eating nothing but mediocre Justin-Bieber-flavored cocoanuts for the past ten years.  You are this close to giving up entirely and surrendering to the hordes of Great White Sharks that constantly surround said island because honestly, who wants to go the rest of their life eating nothing but cocoanuts?!

When suddenly…you see something in the distance.  Something that you never, EVER thought you would see again.

A nice, juicy, David-Bowie-flavored cheeseburger.  You think to yourself, “I haven’t seen a cheeseburger in ten years! THIS CAN’T BE REAL!” But then, you take that first, succulent, just-released-single-bite, and you realize that your prayers have been answered…the Bowie Burger is BACK.

Then, after that first chart-topping bite of glam rock deliciousness, a giant seagull swoops in, snatches the Bowie Burger out of your hand, eats it, burps in your face, and proceeds to laugh at you. Loudly.

THAT, my friends, is how this news is going to feel, I’m afraid.

Just days after David Bowie quietly released his first single in TEN YEARS, “Where Are We Now?” on iTunes, his producer, Tony Visconti, has announced that the God of glam has “no plans” to tour his new album.  This, in turn, immediately had the rumor mill running rampant with horrible possibilities: Why wasn’t he touring? Is our beloved Bowie ill? DOES HE NOT LOVE US ANYMORE?!

While Visconti quickly shot down rumors that Bowie was sick, he could not tell us the reason why a tour was not happening, only saying, “One of the guys would say, ‘Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?’ and David said, ‘We’re not’. He made a point of saying that all the time.”

Well…talk about putting a damper on our Monday.  Guess we just have to focus on the fact that Bowie is in good health and is releasing his new album on March 12th of this year.  Now, we just have to go about getting that cheeseburger we’re now mysteriously craving.

…It’s gonna be a long day.
