Jack White Saves Detroit Masonic Temple In Stunning Display Of Awesomeness

Jack White Saves Detroit Masonic Temple

Because we really needed ANOTHER reason to love him, it has just been revealed that Jack White has single-handedly saved the Detroit’s legendary Masonic Temple from foreclosure.

A look into my mind at this very moment.

A look into my mind at this very moment.

The Detroit native was outed Tuesday as the anonymous angel benefactor who donated $142,000 to cover the Temple’s owed taxes.  The theater, which White’s mother was an usher at and has seen performances by The White Stripes along with legends such as The Rolling Stones and The Who, is showing their appreciation for Jack by re-naming the temple after him.  Detroit Masonic Temple Association President Roger Sobran stated:

“Jack’s donation could not have come at a better time and we are eternally grateful to him for it. Jack’s magnanimous generosity and unflinching loyalty to this historic building and his Detroit roots is appreciated beyond words.”

White’s nephew, Ben Blackwell, explained Jack’s possible reasoning behind the donation:

“What really puts it all in context were those first two White Stripes performances in April 2003 — two consecutive nights, one in the small room, the other in the big room. From the loading docks you could see the Gold Dollar. It took years, four albums and how ever many of tour miles to go that very significant half a block.”

Whatever the reasoning, I want to give a personal big thank you to Jack. You just saved a piece of irreplaceable history!
