Trevor Powers, a.k.a. Youth Lagoon, has shared his music video for “Mute,” a single off his new album Wondrous Bughouse. The video is nicely shot and certainly intriguing, but as soon as it finished I was just kind of like…
The video for “Mute,” which was directed by Tyler T. Williams, begins with a young male skateboarder on the ground. He has a bit of a stare down with a dog before riding off into the night, keeping it slow-mo to fit the relaxed music (which I recommend, by the way). Both the music and the visuals take a turn for the weird when the boy makes his way into a house. He finds a television with a Marilyn Monroe lookalike (sans famous mole) on the screen amongst surrounding fuzz, touches it, and somehow finds the woman in the house. This is when it becomes especially strange – bodies change states of matter, heads glow, and ghost horses run. Yeah, I don’t know either.
Check out the video below and let us know if you’ve found some hidden meaning or if you’re just as confused as we are. Regardless, “Mute” is a great song and we applaud Youth Lagoon for another great release.
