Revenge Of The Nerds transform themselves into the ultimate college frat party band, and the ultimate new wave 80s tribute band – The Spazmatics. The Spazmatics are a franchised band, and a brilliant concept – get a bunch of skinny musicians, dress them up like revenge of the nerds, put them on stage to perform covers of the greatest new wave pop hits of the 80s and everyone has a good time. For those of us old enough to remember the 80s, it’s nostalgic fun. For the younger crowd, it gives them the chance to experience a bit of what they missed. It’s also pointedly on trend right now with everything 80s-inspired being so damn hot.
While The Spazmatics appear to be a band, they’re really more of a stage show, with shows and chapters of the band in Austin, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Dallas, Tampa, Salt Lake City, and Cleveland – key tourist destinations. In addition, they’re perfect fun for corporate events and conventions. They performed at the Domain.com party at Brush Square Park during SXSW Interactive on March 9, 2013.
Watch them perform their cover of Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock And Roll”.
And The Knack’s “My Sharona”.
This version of the band is fronted by Zack Weber.
That drummer is playing the song incorrectly.
It’s basically a big tom workout with a little bit of snare for accents.
They don’t sound bad, though.
