Sigur Rós’ music already creates a heavenly aura that seems to tickle every sense, but now you can immerse yourself even further into the tranquility provided by Jónsi’s falsetto Hopelandic vocals with the new Varðeldur candle for sale in the band’s online merch store.
The Varðeldur candle has a “smoky, slightly briny smell of a flotsam campfire on a distant black beach under a wan midnight sun.” This scent is what has been filling the air of Sigur Rós’ studio, and if you are a weirdo dedicated fan like me, you’ll want to experience the new tunes the same way the band did while recording them, through whatever sense you can. The candle was even specially created for the band based on their “olfactory specifications,” so you know it’s going to create the perfect ambiance.
This candle burns for 35 hours and will cost you $23.50. As far as band merch goes, this is definitely more on the obscure side, but I am hoping it influences other bands to also consider looking past selling only tees and hoodies.
