Confused? Join the club. In a move that shocked, well…pretty much everyone, Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier suddenly resigned from his band, just weeks before they were set to kick off a co-headlining tour with Shinedown. The band, who recently scored a chart-topping single with “Chalk Outline” off their latest album, “Transit of Venus,” released a statement on the news:
“We appreciate everyone’s concern about Three Days Grace. We found out on December 21st that Adam wished to resign from the band. In a letter to us Adam indicated that he was resigning from the band due to a non life threatening health issue and wanted the band to continue moving forward without him. We were as shocked as many of you were to hear the news. Three Days Grace has always been and will continue to be not only our job but our passion. Instead of cancelling the tour, we felt an obligation to you, the fans, to forge ahead and put on the best show we can. Brad recently reached out to his brother Matt Walst, lead singer for ‘My Darkest Days’ to fill in for the tour dates already announced. We’ve been hanging out and rehearsing with Matt and look forward to rocking the stage in a few weeks! As of right now, Matt’s role is temporary and as far as the future and beyond this tour, we are taking it one day at a time. – 3DG”
So, here’s our question: should we refer to them as “Two Days Grace” now?
The group without Adam said that Matt isn`t gonna stay forever but now he`s official. Dear Three Days Grace, we hate Adam being replaced by Matt and please do something! We don`t want Matt in 3DG, let him go in his band and please, at least reach out for Adam. If you`re gonna work with Matt CHANGE THE BAND`S NAME, because if Adam isn`t in the band it is not the same. It`s not even worth listening to your new songs with Matt because they make me sick, they disgust me and it literally makes me cry. For the sake of the band, change the name at least. (we want Adam back..not Matt)
I think Matt is doing a good job. I know we all have opinions, but I think Matt is a good singer. Adam was great, I’m not denying it. But I just feel like Matt is great for the band, and that we should all still consider them as the epicness as a band, Three Days Grace.
