While everyone was wondering about Sheeran and serial celeb dater Taylor Swift after they collaborated on “Everything Has Changed,” Swift was reportedly introducing the red-headed romancer to her good pal, Gomez.  The introduction must have gone over well, because Sheeran was recently spotted leaving Gomez’s house, guitar in hand.  Could there be a collab on the way?  Maybe he just knew that even a starlet like Selena couldn’t resist his musical charms.

We have our fingers crossed for this pairing, mostly because we’d like to see Gomez with someone who isn’t a complete dou–, uh, nuisance.  Plus, we think the two would be strangely (and absolutely) adorable together.  Am I getting too imaginative?  I don’t think I’ve crossed the line yet, considering I can’t come up with a better couple name than Edlena.

Anyway, Ed, if this is all just a made up rumor, it’s time to make it a reality.

YESSSSSS. Another awards show that I get to do gif reactions for! This time it’s Toronto’s own MuchMusic Video Awards, where the stars came out for some of the most boringly bizarre outfits seen in a while.  Let’s get to trashin’ some fashion, shall we?!

Demi Lovato: the concept is great, I totally get the whole “less is more” thing you have going on here…unfortunately, it just translates to “less is more BORING.”

Taylor Swift: alright, Swifty, not bad…not bad at all! You’re FINALLY straying from the usual “long sparkly dress” choice, well done!

Jedward: Why are you here? How are you still a thing? Please leave.

Ed Sheeran: I love you, but come on. This outfit for an awards show is a big ol’ middle finger to the fashion world, and I am NOT okay with it. DISAPPOINTED.

Cody Simpson: I’m sorry, but who exactly do you think you are? Macklemore? Ugh, DISMISSED.

Chadvril: Almost! You guys were SO close to being on the “eh” list. Then Advril had to go and wear a belt on her head. Pity.

Marianas Trench: The very definition of “trying too hard.” Go home.

MuchMusic VJ Lauren Toyota: I didn’t know who you were, but I certainly do now! Take note, children, THIS is how you do a red carpet.

This past Sunday, I had the incredible opportunity to attend New York City’s 2013 New Music Seminar‘s Opening Night at Webster Hall, and it was QUITE the event!  The night was filled with great people, networking opportunities, and of course – amazing music!  With performers like 2AM Club, Air Traffic Controller, The Soul Rebels, Catey Shaw, and more, attendees were treated to a night of some of the best up and comers in the industry. I was personally incredibly impressed with 2AM Club, who got the entire crowd up and dancing within a matter of seconds with their perky beats and contagious personalities, and Catey Shaw, who did a captivating cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” It’s hard to do Zeppelin right, but by God, Catey…Robert Plant would be proud.

Along with the main stage performances, guests were able to see the legendary stage performance coach Tom Jackson, who has worked with the likes of Taylor Swift and The Band Perry, work his magic on the already-talented Brooklyn native Krissy Krissy down in the venues studio space.  He passionately preached:

“People buy moments, not songs. Your job is to create a moment, and the first step is to create a vision for your performance.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.  Overall, the New Music Seminar was a treasure trove of hidden gems in the industry, and a fantastic opportunity to connect with countless people who are as passionate about music as can be, and I will absolutely be going back for many years to come!

We see the two cuties latch onto one another throughout daily school activities, including gym class and band class, as pictured above.  But seriously, they’re off to the side during gym doing yoga by themselves.  THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN.  Speaking of things that don’t happen, if you find yourself beginning to feel jealous of the young couple’s relationship, just remember that elementary school aged boys do NOT (or cannot) read The Notebook in real life.

Yeah, you guys did it better.

So, do the present day Swift and Sheeran even appear in their own video?  Guess you’ll have to watch and see.

Well happy Monday to me! The Billboard Music Awards were last night, and you know what that means: all of the best and worst fashion, with gif commentary!  Unlike the Met Gala, which had a “punk” theme, the Billboard Awards were a free for all, and it certainly showed on the red carpet, with celebrities showing up in some of the latest cutting-edge styles.  Let’s take a look, shall we?

Ariana Grande: Perfection. Keep on keepin’ on, Ari.

Jennifer Lopez: awesome outfit, but you really couldn’t do ANYTHING with your hair?

Nayer: I’m not entirely sure who you are, but PLEASE scrap this outfit. The dog can stay though.

Nicki Minaj: BOOOOOOOOOOOORING.

Ke$ha: Side butt is NOT the new side boob, no matter what your stylist says. STAHP.

Taylor Swift: NO WAY, she’s wearing a sparkly dress to an awards show? SHE’S TOTALLY NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE!

Miley Cyrus: yes, she may remind everyone of a court jester, but hey…she looks damn good as one.

Selena Gomez: Is she getting married at EDC this year?

Sofia Grace & Rosie: take note – THIS is how you do an awards show. Well done!

And last but not least…

Chad Kroeger & Avril Lavigne AKA “Chadvril”: …no comment.

To summarize: Hollywood, please stop taking tips from your stylists and start listening to Sofia Grace & Rosie. The end.

I’m trying to write as many songs as possible; there are times I’ve been prolific and times I’ve not been prolific at all, but I just keep pushing. I think you just have to unclog the pipes and write as many songs as possible.

So, what do these songs sound like?  According to Sheeran, fans shouldn’t be expecting a part two of + (Plus).

It’s definitely leaning towards more of a beat-heavy thing, definitely more hip-hop-like…I think I’ve evolved a bit more since I made the first record, which I think is a healthy thing.

Hip-hop-like?!  Maybe that live mashup cover of “Thrift Shop” and “No Diggity” influenced his sound after all.  It’s hard to imagine Ed Sheeran + hip-hop beats, but we’re sure he’ll make it work (and his Sheerios will stand behind him through thick and thin).  The musician has already begun to demo new tracks, so after his tour ends in September, we can only expect that the recording process won’t drag on for very long.

What do you think about Sheeran stepping out of his comfort zone?  Will his mainstream success continue on with a new album, or do you think fans and critics will give it a – (minus)?  Okay, that was too much.  I’m sorry.  Maybe.

It’s that time of year again: The Met Gala!  The gala is probably most notorious for people NOT dressing for the theme, and this year was no different.  The theme was declared as “punk,” and very few stuck to it, instead opting to be “rebellious” by dressing elegantly.  SPOILER ALERT: it didn’t work.  Here, for your viewing pleasure, are the best and worst looks of the night, complete with my own personal gif commentary:

Beyonce: on fire, literally and figuratively.

Alicia Keys: a nice, balanced mix of glam and punk.  A bit on the boring side, though.

Katy Perry: please stop. That’s all I have to say about this ridiculous getup.

Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale: I love you both, and I think you two look fabulous, I really do…BUT…this is a punk theme, people! COME ON!

Perhaps the best example of “not sticking with the theme,” Nicki Minaj looks more like a navy nun Christina Aguilera ala her “Moulin Rouge” days than a punk gala attendee. NOT impressed.

Jennifer Lopez: I know she’s catching a lot of flack for this dress, but I actually really like it.  Keepin’ it different, punk, and just a bit classy all at once.

Solange Knowles: I feel like I’m repeating myself here when I say that this is not punk. BUT, Solange manages one of the most successfully daring looks in the room, and looks like a modern-day Foxxy Cleopatra, so I’m going to give this one to her.

Taylor Swift: welp, I mean, I guess you did your best.

Florence Welch: take note, everyone – THIS is how you bring punk to the Gala. Fringe, velvet, and leather.  To complete the look, bedhead and an “I don’t want to be here” expression.

Rita Ora: a fashion risk that fell flat. Better luck next time.

Madonna: as much as I want to make a crack about how shes 117 years old and probably shouldn’t be showing her cooter to everyone…when you have a bod like hers, I can’t even be mad. I’m impressed.

Psy: WHY ARE YOU STILL A THING?! GET OUT OF HERE!

Miley Cyrus: Slinky mesh dress? Check. Spiky hair? Check. No bra? Double check. No matter what the haters say, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that she stuck to the theme and ran with it. LOVE IT.

Debbie Harry: ALL HAIL QUEEN BLONDIE! A pioneer of the punk scene, Harry proves that she’s still got it at 67 years old. Rock on, Debbie, rock on.

To summarize: stick with the theme, darlings. It’s there for a reason…the reason being that I WILL make fun of you if you blatantly ignore it, and I will NOT be sorry at all. See ya next year!

Justin Bieber was mistakenly outed as gay this past Saturday when the E! News twitter was hacked!  The site was taken over around 1PM by the Syrian Electronic Army, who gave Beliebers everywhere heart palpitations by sending out a now-deleted series of tweets saying:

“Exclusive: Justin Bieber to E! Online: ‘I’m Gay'”

Along with the announcement came a link to a false E! website, along with a follow-up tweet that read:

“Exclusive: Selena Gomez tells E! she will fully supporting Justin in his coming out.”

Luckily, to the relief of Bieber fans worldwide, another tweet was sent through just minutes later, with the Syrian Electronic Army taking full responsibility for the “outing,” stating:

“The Syrian Electronic Army was here! Fans of @justinbieber, you have been trolled by @Official_SEA12 #SEA”

Okay, so it’s just soda; everyone’s favorite girl next door is still a suitable role model for your young’uns (even though diet soda is bad for you too).  Diet Coke’s first commercial featuring Taylor Swift is up, only a few days after its rival, Pepsi, released a new commercial with Beyoncé.

In the commercial, Swift is shown in different settings, writing out the lyrics to her single, “22,” while drinking Diet Coke to fuel her creativity.  We also see and hear a few fans singing portions of the song, whether they be driving, frying food, or sitting with their own acoustic guitars (such a versatile song!).  The fully recorded song begins to play as T. Swift takes to the stage, and we’re told to “stay extraordinary.”

I’m not sure if this commercial really told us much about its product, but it’s hard to name one that does nowadays.  I will say that it was cute, and both Taylor Swift and Coca-Cola having red as their trademark color worked out nicely.  Does it compare to Beyoncé’s Pepsi ad?  Probably not.  Oh well.
