After four teasers (1, 2, 3, 4), Demi Lovato has finally graced us with her official music video for “Heart Attack.” Her vocals in the song are, as always, spot on, but the video itself shows that the singer can be sloppy too.
Lovato switches off between black and white outfits, eventually dirtying her white attire with oil-slicked hands. Apparently that wasn’t quite taking it far enough, because later on in the video her face can be seen emerging from a pool of liquid latex. When she’s not busy taking a dip in the blackness or finger painting on her chest, she’s performing with her backing band or solo, looking mature with dark makeup, intense stares, and very deep v’s.
I have to say that I was a little underwhelmed with the lack of excitement in the video, especially after the teasers. I will say, however, that what they did shoot looks great, and the song holds its own, with or without video.
