IS THIS REAL LIFE?!?

The Minneapolis punk legends played their last show together in 1991.  They haven’t been completely inactive since then; Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson recently worked together to record a covers EP.  Back in 2006, members of the band released a “best of” compilation, Don’t You Know Who I Think I Was?, which included two new tracks.  Riot Fest, however, takes it to a whole new level of reunion.

The Replacements will be performing for three dates of Riot Fest: Toronto (August 24-25), Chicago (September 13-15), and Denver (September 21-22).  After the band denied a Coachella reunion, Westerberg claiming “even if we got together and played, it would never be whatever the heck we were supposed to be,” the chances of ever seeing them again seemed slim.  I guess they finally figured out how to bring the magic back, and longtime fans everywhere are praising the band reunion gods for the surprising announcement.

You can keep an eye out for updates from the band on their official website.  We assume it’ll be there where we find out what the exact lineup for the reunited band will be!  WHO’S GOING TO RIOT FEST?!

I’ll tell you right away because I know it was my first thought/prayer – he DOES perform “Ignition (Remix).”  But this wasn’t just an R. Kelly set, so there was a little twist – the song was performed over Phoenix’s hit “1901.”  Strange combination?  It worked surprisingly well, but hey, it involved “Ignition (Remix),” so it was bound for greatness from the start.

Phoenix continued with their amazing performance, having Kelly back one more time to perform “I’m A Flirt.”  Luckiest crowd ever, or luckiest crowd ever?  I will be anxiously awaiting a collaboration album…or at least a studio remix of “1901” and “Ignition (Remix).”  Check out the performance below!

Today’s a sad day for all the RIDICULOUSLY LUCKY people attending Coachella this year, as the legendary Lou Reed has canceled his performance, along with all dates surrounding the event!  The announcement was made on Reed’s official website, saying that the shows for the Coachella, the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, the Warfield in San Francisco, and the Golden State Theatre in Monterey were cancelled due to “unavoidable complications.”  While it is no doubt horrible for the people expecting to see the rocker in concert, I’m sure there’s a good explanation for this, so I’ll be sure to report Reed’s reasoning when it is released.

No, you are not being Daft “Punked” (buh dum chhh) the electronic duo has confirmed that they will be releasing their comeback album this May! It’s been a long couple of years since 2005’s hit “Human After All,” came out, and many had lost hope of the duo ever returning after rumors of them headlining Coachella proved to be false. The still-unnamed album will be the first the group has done after separating from Virgin Records, but fear not, because they have a slew of famous friends to help them out, including Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams, Panda Bear (of Animal Collective,) and Giorgio Moroder! Can’t wait to see what they have in store!

Ladies and gentlemen, THIS IS NOT A DRILL: Coachella has ACTUALLY released the full 2013 lineup!  In what will go down in history as one of the most amazing lineups EVER, The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be headlining, along with other legendary acts filling the three-day musical extravaganza.  Who are the other acts, you ask?  Well, Coachella attendees will be seeing Social Distortion, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jurassic 5, Bassnectar, Vampire Weekend, AND the reunion of The Postal Service!  You can check out the full 2013 lineup below!

Le sigh. Okay, Coachella…I love you. I really, really do. But this whole, “stirring-up-publicity-when-you-clearly-have-no-idea-whats-going-on-thing?” Yeah…it’s getting old. First you posted the round rock in the middle of a field, hinting at the possibility that The Rolling Stones were playing, before you squashed that dream. You then hinted at everyone from The Postal Service to David Bowie to freaking Prince headlining, only to zip your lips right after the rumors came out. And NOW, you tease us even more with a video that can only be described as an acid trip in the desert while reading a Dr. Suess book, which has literally no additional information about any headliners.

This has to stop.

By this time last year, the lineup had not only been announced, but both show dates were sold out.  At the rate this year is going, people will be staring at the stage taking bets on who is going to come on last.

Just tell us the headliner(s) already, and no one gets hurt.

In what can only be described as the letdown of the freakin’ CENTURY, The Rolling Stones have confirmed that they will not be headlining Coachella this year.  Rumors that the legends would be performing have been circulating for months, due to hints left by the festivals organizers, and the show being briefly listed as a part of their upcoming 2013 tour on their official website.  The reason for the letdown has been rumored scheduling conflicts and pay disputes, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.  Festival organizers have still not announced the headliner for 2013, and now that the Stones are crossed off the list, our curiosity is officially peaked!  Who would YOU like to see headline?!

Put down the bong, finish up your Taco Bell, and listen up: it’s not what you think.  Coachella organizers (being the teases that they are) seemingly confirmed the rumors today that The Rolling Stones would be headlining the legendary music festival this year by posting a photo of a large stone in the middle of the festival’s location on its official Facebook page.  If this does turn out to be what everyone thinks it is, this would be the Stone’s first US festival gig since Altamont in 1969, and likely the first of many 2013 concerts.  Coming from someone who hasn’t “got no satisfaction” from the Stone’s in a while, a 2013 tour kicked off by Coachella would be just what I needed.  Here’s to hoping!
