Rusko Samples Jay-Z for New Track, ‘Takeoff’

Rusko has released his first song on OWSLA, you know, that little record label owned by Skrillex.  The track is called “Takeoff” and will appear on the producer’s Lift Me Up ep.  Not a bad way to celebrate a new signing.

“Takeoff” is a straight-forward drum-and-bass track, absolutely perfect for partying in warmer weather and pumping up kandi-hungry krowds crowds.  Jay-Z’s immediately recognizable voice is featured throughout the track, sampled from “Encore,” if I’m not mistaken.  It’s fairly repetitive, but you’ll find yourself in a zone before you know it.  Rusko spoke to Rolling Stone briefly about the track:

I grew up listening to drum-and-bass and jungle music…I felt it was time to reflect this by making some of my very own. This really is the definition of music from the heart.

We’re glad to hear that Rusko is doing what he loves…and we love it too!  Listen to “Takeoff” below and tell us what you think!
