Our patience for new Britney Spears music is growing thinner and thinner, so any news is good news, no matter how small. Will.i.am, who has previously worked with Spears, most recently on “Scream & Shout,” gave us that good news by explaining to Rolling Stone that he will be acting as executive producer on the pop princess’ upcoming eighth album.
Will.i.am won’t reveal any specific information about individual track songwriters and producers, but spoke about his plans for the album and for Brit’s sound:
I was like, ‘OK, look, guys, me and Britney need to have lunch four times a month for three months before I even try to go in the studio with her…Because we need to talk. We need to talk about what she’s excited about in life. I gotta talk about the things that hurt her. I gotta talk about the things that make her concerned – she’s a mother. I gotta talk to her about all the things that her fans want to talk to her about. I gotta be the vehicle between her and her fans…We can’t do another song about going on the dance floor. Really? Didn’t we see a bunch of Britney doing that already? Don’t we want to see something that comes from her heart?
He’s certainly putting a lot of importance on his role, but if Britney’s happy, so are we. We’re sure that whatever new topics the album explores, it will be great…as long as will.i.am doesn’t decide to infringe on anyone’s copyright.
