PSY Revising New Single’s Name Over Possibility of Offending Arabs

psy, assarabia, assaravia, gangnam style
South Korean breakout star PSY is determined not to be a one-hit wonder after his record-breaking “Gangnam Style.”  Thankfully, he’s realized that “Assarabia” (or “Assaravia” in English) wasn’t quite the name we wanted to see ascend the charts.  “Assarabia” was the original name of his followup single, but both the title and some of the lyrics are being altered over worry of offending Arab people.

Well, what did he THINK was going to happen?!  Okay, before we raise our torches, let’s clear something up – “Assarabia” is a slang South Korean term used to express thrills; it’s just the English interpretation that’s provoking the double-taking and side-eyeing from us.  Still, realizing the discomfort and issues the term may have caused throughout English speaking countries, PSY is giving the song a new name, though we don’t know what it will be yet or when it will be out.

So let me say that in America I need a new single because ‘Gangnam Style’ got too popular, so I’ve got to write a new single.

Write, PSY, write!

…Preferably something that will make people dance and not angrily shake their fists.
