It’s rumored that Dutch producers have some kind of unique intuition when it comes to house and electronic dance music. It seems since the mid-late 00’s, the Netherlands have been had an overbearing grip on the EDM world with countless established veteran and newcomer DJs with several chart-topping hits. One of the few very popular household names that EVERYONE knows by now is none other than Afrojack. Since initial and commercial success, Afrojack started his own label that has taken his last name, Wall Recordings. “If you build it, they will come,” and by this overused quote, Afrojack new that if he built his music beacon, young Dutch talent would inevitably come. And this week we explore D-Wayne.

D-Wayne is yet another Dutch producer, oozing with potential. Some of his earlier singles were released on Spinnin’ Records, Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, and of course, Wall Recordings. Afrojack has had his eye on D-Wayne from the beginning and it seems this was a great business and creative call. This week, D-Wayne released his new single “AMMO” with Wall. “AMMO” promises to do very well on any electronic music charts, and will most likely be played on every DJ’s live sets. To put it simply, it’s a massive release. D-Wayne samples some familiar hype vocals that Afrojack (among other) has used in their own hits. The overall feel is like blending an old Dutch styling with today’s commercial structure. Today’s EDM culture yearns for songs like this. I normally try to stay away from the commercial sound, but the assumingly obvious influences behind “AMMO” make me nostalgic.

Get excited, “Earthquakey People,” because the one and only Steve Aoki has just confirmed his Las Vegas residency!  The Grammy-nominated DJ/producer will be spinning at the soon-to-be-opened Hakkasan Las Vegas Nightclub inside the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino starting this April.  The shows at Hakkasan mark the end of Aoki’s stay at Wynn Las Vegas, where he worked as musical director and organized “Aoki’s House Party” to help launch the club.  Aoki explained his reasons for staying in Vegas, saying:

“There are only a few places in the world where you can actually do a residency for someone that’s touring as much as I am, and Vegas is one of them.  Ibiza’s been doing this for a long time – it’s the destination for all of Europe. Vegas has definitely evolved in that direction.”

In addition to his residency show dates, Aoki will be headlining daytime parties at “Wet Republic,” the well-established pool club.  During all dates, concertgoers will be treated to countless visual effects that relate to his upcoming album’s title, “Neon Future,” which he describes as:

“bright and positive. The songs are more colorful. They’re more emotional. The music, for me, has evolved and changed. That’s a big part of why I want to name it ‘Neon Future.’ That’s why I want my party in Las Vegas. I wanted to really put a flag in the ground [that says] ‘This is the sound that you’ll experience at a party like this. When you walk in, the idea is you walk into a neon future. You walk into that world.’”

Sounds like the party of the century to me!  I smell a road trip to Vegas in my future, anyone want to go halfsies on gas?!

Having the chance to organise a Tomorrowland outside of Belgium is more exciting than anything we ever dreamed of when we started years ago as young music lovers and entrepreneurs. This year it has become more and more of a reality. We see it as a fantastic and very unique opportunity; it will be an enormous challenge and a big step for our young, creative and vibrant team. We’re all very motivated and excited to begin this new chapter and create the same unique experience that we do in Belgium. We’re very happy we can finally give an alternative to the enormous amount of people from all over the world that want to visit our festival. We’ve found a beautiful location that feels like a second home, and it’s very similar to our fantastic terrain in Belgium. We will reveal all the details within the coming weeks.

So, no location has been announced, but there is still hope!  TomorrowWorld is already set to happen September 27th to 29th, this year!  Keep an eye out on the fest’s site and be amped up and ready to buy tickets RIGHT when they go on sale (don’t let the dirty scalpers beat you to it).

Tomorrowland will take place from July 26th to 28th and with humongous headliners like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Avicii, and Steve Aoki lined up to perform, TomorrowWorld should be something worth fighting for.

Australian rap sensation Iggy Azalea has graced us with new music!  Ever since releasing her debut mixtape, “Ignorant Art,” in September 2011, Azalea has released two full projects, and has collaborated with superstars like T.I., Steve Aoki, and Rihanna.

Iggy, who has made a name for herself as one of the best up-and-coming rappers in the game, is known for her couture fashion sense and ability to spit some of the most risque rhymes in the business, (seriously, she has a song called “Pu$$y,” and it’s awesome,) takes her music in a completely different direction for “Work,” talking about her time before she made it.  In the past, Azalea has been relatively candid about her humble beginnings, having come to the United States alone at age 16 to make it in the music industry, rapping:

“People got a lot to say, but don’t know a thing ’bout where I was made/or how many floors I had to scrub just to make past where I am from/ no money, no family/16, in the middle of Miami,”

The song continues on as both an autobiography mixed with insane EDM-inspired drops, managing to seamlessly combine genres while still staying true to Iggy’s no-nonsense style.  Check it out below and be sure to pick up Iggy’s new album, “The New Classic,” out later this year!

Even though Rihanna’s latest album, “Unapologetic,” just came out this past November, the hitmaker extrodinare is reportedly back in the studio with Australian model/rapper Iggy Azalea, with audio engineer Marcos Tovar stating:

“She was in the studio with Iggy earlier this month. They were introduced by someone in the Roc Nation team that has been managing Iggy’s tour and Rihanna immediately loved her style. They’re definitely collaborating on something together.”

Azalea has been steadily working her way into the big-times lately, being featured on tracks by superstars like Steve Aoki and T.I., and I have no doubt that a Rihanna track is JUST what Iggy needs to really make it big. Good luck, girls, we can’t wait to hear what you have in store for us!
