IT’S HERE!  The first song from emo-indie supergroup (and grammar enthusiasts?) Their / They’re / There is online!  If you haven’t heard of the band until now, here is the lineup: Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It. and Stay Ahead Of The Weather, Mike Kinsella of pioneer midwestern emo acts Cap’n Jazz and American Football, along with his current project Owen, and Matthew Frank of Loose Lips Sink Ships.  Rolling Stone has released “Concession Speech Writer,” the band’s first single, and it’s a breath of fresh air.

“Concession Speech Writer” mixes up genres to create a unique sound in today’s growing indie scene.  The song features crunchy guitar chords and technical (or twinkly) picking, along with a clear and creative bassline to go with Evan Weiss’ clean, yet powerful vocals and clever lyrics.  The drums also lay out a powerful foundation as the gang vocals come in mid-song.

Weiss said of the song:

This is the first song we ever wrote as a group…Oddly enough, it seems to be the most indicative of our styles and attitude as a band.

Definitely sounds like the right choice for a first single.  The group also posted a few tour dates on their Facebook page:

April 20 – Reckless Records (Wicker Park) – Chicago, IL
May 11 – Beat Kitchen – Chicago, IL
May 31 – Jackpot Saloon – Lawrence, KS

Their / They’re / There’s self-titled, six track EP will be out on Polyvinyl records on April 20th.  I know I’m already counting down the days.  Take a listen to it out here and tell us what you think!
