The Lonely Island are returning to rule the world of comedy hip hop with their third studio album, The Wack Album. With new songs from The Lonely Island come new videos from The Lonely Island, so when we saw the fifteen second TV spot, we were STOKED.
The TV spot didn’t tell us much or preview any new material, but it was certainly enough to get people talking. The group stands together in their tacky suits and shades, hands together as if they’re ready for a pre-game chant. Text appears on screen as their images blur, revealing a new album to be released on June 11. Yep, that’s less than a month away!
Our thoughts exactly, Andy. The Wack Album will be the trio’s first album since 2011’s Turtleneck & Chain, which contained popular hits such as “I Just Had Sex” and “The Creep.” We did, however, hear a new single, “YOLO,” featuring Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar earlier this year that has kept our expectations high.
We can’t wait to see what Andy, Jorma, and Akiva have in store for us next! Whatever it is, we’re sure they’ll execute it…
