On this day in 1967, grunge God Kurt Cobain was born in Aberdeen, Washington. Cobain, along with his legendary band Nirvana became the voice of the generation for legions of people disenchanted by the excess of the 80’s and spearheaded the grunge rock movement into the mainstream. After having unfathomable success with his heartfelt lyrics, incredible guitar playing, and self-depreciating demeanor, Cobain, who had struggled with depression and addiction throughout his short life, finally succumbed to his demons and committed suicide at the tender age of 27. He would have been 46 today, and left behind a wife, young daughter, and millions of devastated fans, but his legacy lives on through his timeless music. Rock on, Kurt, Heaven must sound great.
