It’s that time of year again: The Met Gala!  The gala is probably most notorious for people NOT dressing for the theme, and this year was no different.  The theme was declared as “punk,” and very few stuck to it, instead opting to be “rebellious” by dressing elegantly.  SPOILER ALERT: it didn’t work.  Here, for your viewing pleasure, are the best and worst looks of the night, complete with my own personal gif commentary:

Beyonce: on fire, literally and figuratively.

Alicia Keys: a nice, balanced mix of glam and punk.  A bit on the boring side, though.

Katy Perry: please stop. That’s all I have to say about this ridiculous getup.

Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale: I love you both, and I think you two look fabulous, I really do…BUT…this is a punk theme, people! COME ON!

Perhaps the best example of “not sticking with the theme,” Nicki Minaj looks more like a navy nun Christina Aguilera ala her “Moulin Rouge” days than a punk gala attendee. NOT impressed.

Jennifer Lopez: I know she’s catching a lot of flack for this dress, but I actually really like it.  Keepin’ it different, punk, and just a bit classy all at once.

Solange Knowles: I feel like I’m repeating myself here when I say that this is not punk. BUT, Solange manages one of the most successfully daring looks in the room, and looks like a modern-day Foxxy Cleopatra, so I’m going to give this one to her.

Taylor Swift: welp, I mean, I guess you did your best.

Florence Welch: take note, everyone – THIS is how you bring punk to the Gala. Fringe, velvet, and leather.  To complete the look, bedhead and an “I don’t want to be here” expression.

Rita Ora: a fashion risk that fell flat. Better luck next time.

Madonna: as much as I want to make a crack about how shes 117 years old and probably shouldn’t be showing her cooter to everyone…when you have a bod like hers, I can’t even be mad. I’m impressed.

Psy: WHY ARE YOU STILL A THING?! GET OUT OF HERE!

Miley Cyrus: Slinky mesh dress? Check. Spiky hair? Check. No bra? Double check. No matter what the haters say, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that she stuck to the theme and ran with it. LOVE IT.

Debbie Harry: ALL HAIL QUEEN BLONDIE! A pioneer of the punk scene, Harry proves that she’s still got it at 67 years old. Rock on, Debbie, rock on.

To summarize: stick with the theme, darlings. It’s there for a reason…the reason being that I WILL make fun of you if you blatantly ignore it, and I will NOT be sorry at all. See ya next year!

Ever since the 2012 release of his debut solo album “Blunderbuss,” fans of real-life guitar hero Jack White have been itching for any and all details on his next project.  Luckily, the notoriously-mysterious White has opened up about his future plans besides marrying me, saying that his work is:

“all over the place. It’s, you know, going out on the road with two bands, that was going out on the road with a gigantic new family, and my influences have just spread out even more to have, you know, a hip-hop drummer and this, you know, bluegrass fiddle player next to, you know, someone from Denmark who plays steel guitar and a soul singer like Ruby Amanfu, on and on and on. There’s no genre. It all comes together and influences me in 16 different ways.”

Amazingly, Jack has even MORE music in the works, as he also reported that he has been in the studio with his other bands, The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs.  Unfortunately, with all of these projects going on, the third man reported:

“I could work 24 hours a day at Third Man all year if I wanted to. There’s so much going on. So much going on, and there’s so many amazing things that are gonna come out in the next few months that I’m excited about. I just look at it like one step at a time and I don’t think too far ahead. I don’t have any shows booked for this year at all. It’s nice to have an open road in front of me.”

Although I am admittedly a bit bummed that Jack will most likely not be touring for a while, any new music from Third Man is definitely something to look forward to!  You can read the full interview here to find out more about Jack’s influences and plans for the future.

Even though Guns ‘N’ Roses are notorious for being some of the wildest, raunchiest, most hard rocking musicians in the business (except for that one time Axl Rose swam with dolphins in that one music video,) they decided to show off a softer side at last night’s Tommy Hilfiger’s private launch party.  The intimate gig took place at the Soho House in West Hollywood and was in celebration of the opening of Hilfiger’s new flagship store on the infamous Robertson Blvd. Attendees such as Kimye, Jessica Alba, Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry, Albert Brooks, and Kaley Cuoco were treated to both Guns ‘N’ Roses AND Alicia Keys, keeping the house packed until well after midnight.  Make sure to check out some of the set below!

NBA’s 62nd All-Star Weekend is living up to its name for 2013 with A-list players and performers announced to take the court and the stage.  Common, Trey Songz, and Ne-Yo will all be putting their best layups forward on February 15th for the game along with the other all-stars, an impressive group including actors, comedians, and Olympians.  The game will air on ESPN at 7:00 pm ET.

The players may be preparing to embarrass themselves for our enjoyment, but the performers have the 16th and 17th to remind us what their true talents are.  Alicia Keys, Fall Out Boy, Phillip Phillips, Ellie Goulding, and John Legend are all announced to provide the musical entertainment for the weekend.

I am practically dribbling over this lineup.

The Grammy Awards are less than two weeks away and the performance list still continues to grow.  Alicia Keys and Maroon 5 will be performing together, which should be interesting (girl on fire’s got the moves like Jagger?  I don’t know).  Frank Ocean is also set to perform.  The three acts join the already impressive bill, featuring Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert, the Black Keys, Fun., the Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Jack White, Elton John with Ed Sheeran, and Justin Timberlake.

Maroon 5 is currently nominated for two awards, while Ocean is up for a whopping six, including Best New Artist.  Keys has already taken home fourteen of the gilded gramophones and is giving everyone else a shot this year.

So prepare your blog posts about possible lip-synch scandals and your Facebook complaints about who did or didn’t win because there is going to be a LOT to type about on February 10th.
