Andrew W.K. Plans To Set A World Record

Andrew W.K.

Here we go again! The O Music Awards is known to having world records efforts set on it’s stage all the time. Chiddy Bang made an attempt at a nine hour and sixteen minute show and the Flaming Lips’ superhuman eight- show effort. Now, this Andrew W.K record is going on a whole different scale. Andrew plans on taking on a 24 hour non stop drum session in a retail store. My arms just hurt just thinking about it. Eh!

It has been confirmed that the party master Andrew W.K has the record in store for the O Music Awards. Andrew will have company for a small part of the record with his side his friend The Roots, but mainly he will be going fourth this journey alone. Because really, that’s not nerve wrecking being the center of attention while you try to break a world record that seems impossible. I’m just wondering how you going to sleep and eat? Andrew has stated he is quite nervous about taking this journey.

“Despite my apparent confidence, inside I am actually a very small, trembling shell of a person, who is not only intimidated, but completely mortified and horrified by the ramifications of this challenge,” he said. “When I signed up for it, I was like ‘Alright, 24 hours of drumming!’ and then it started to set in: 24 hours of drumming. Just drumming for an hour — just drumming for 24 seconds — can be quite intense … I can’t even play one of my own songs on the drums all the way through without my arms burning.

“So let it be said, I’m not taking this lightly,” he continued. “I think it will push me to the very lengths of my strengths.”

W.K. mashes, the O Music Awards’ first-ever “Live Music Day”festival featuring more than 50 acts, including Hanson, Kat Dahlia and Kate Nash — will be in full swing. And today, we’ve got a brand-new name to add to the event: The Jonas Brothers, who will help kick the day off with an exclusive performance!

Joe, Nick and Kevin are going to kick off the performance from a single from their track “First Time”.

It all begins Wednesday, June 19 at 7 p.m. May the drumming commence. I just think how many drum sticks Andrew’s going to go through. How about the longest person to play the guitar? That would be cool!
