The track is a slow jam featuring an unsatisfied Drake err…singing(?) about how he is “scared of commitment” and how he thinks his “love life is finished.”  The verses are noticeably reminiscent of “Thinkin Bout You” by Frank Ocean, but don’t replicate the perfect flow.  The music and words don’t mesh well, resulting in the whole track feeling off.  The chorus  features James Fauntleroy singing the chorus of “Say My Name,” but he sounds like he’s drunk and/or dying, slurring through the consonants and notes.  The two fail to capture the pure magic of the original 1999 hit, and fail to create magic of their own in the 21st century.

Hey, maybe my opinion is “wrong;” I’ve seen quite a few people post the song around today.  But all musicality aside, why name a song “Girls Love Beyonce” that has nothing to do with the singer?  Could it be a…marketing ploy?

We’ll see what becomes of this new track, but I wouldn’t be too shocked if it fell flat on its face…

The new video for Jame Blake’s newest single “Overgrown” has been posted today. The beautiful, yet unsettling clip shows James Blake making a journey through dark haunted forests and hills with dark figures following close behind. The video was directed by Nabil Elderkin, who is known for his equally surreal video clips done for other artists like Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Foals, among others. Check out the clip below. “Overgrown” is taken from the fantastic second album from James Blake, which also happens to be called Overgrown.

Jammers welcome to Jamspreader, Denver based rock band Air Dubai! I had the pleasure of attending their show at The Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY and they blew me away. After signing to Hopeless Records, home of Yellowcard and The Used, in December 2012, the 7 man band has been currently touring all over the US, notably a sold out show opening for Jake Miller in NYC at the Starland Ballroom last night and 8 shows planned at SXSW! You’re going to want to listen to these guys, I’d say they are a blend of Macklemore, and Frank Ocean, but that still doesn’t do them justice….Listen for yourself!

The Grammy Awards are less than two weeks away and the performance list still continues to grow.  Alicia Keys and Maroon 5 will be performing together, which should be interesting (girl on fire’s got the moves like Jagger?  I don’t know).  Frank Ocean is also set to perform.  The three acts join the already impressive bill, featuring Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert, the Black Keys, Fun., the Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Jack White, Elton John with Ed Sheeran, and Justin Timberlake.

Maroon 5 is currently nominated for two awards, while Ocean is up for a whopping six, including Best New Artist.  Keys has already taken home fourteen of the gilded gramophones and is giving everyone else a shot this year.

So prepare your blog posts about possible lip-synch scandals and your Facebook complaints about who did or didn’t win because there is going to be a LOT to type about on February 10th.
