Oh. Well…I suppose that works.

Why, you ask?

Stop talking, Paris.

As I was saying, no one quite knows why, but the decision is final, and Paris Hilton will officially be releasing a house music record to Cash Money this summer.  Hilton broke the news during her stay at Cannes, where she was there supporting “The Bling Ring,” a movie based on actual criminals that victimized her.  When asked about the release, the Heiress said:

“This is a lot different than my first album. It’s really going to be house music.”

As you can tell, she gave a LOT of information.  She teased fans a bit more last year, when she explained:

“I think a lot of people don’t know that music is my passion since I was a little girl. I’m very musically talented. This is more my thing [musically on this album], more of a club scene, more dance.”

Paris’ last foray into music was her self-titled debut pop album in 2006, which, much to critics dismay, peaked at #18 on the Billboard charts. Since then, she has been featured in the odd music video, televison show, DJed (to boos from her audience,) and most recently sang in the laughable track, “Tonight (I Wanna Bang You)” with Akon.  So, needless to say, this album should be…interesting, to say the very least.  But, alas, Paris doesn’t seem to be bothered by it all, so who knows? Maybe the joke really will be on us.  We’ll just have to wait and see. After all…

WHY, ULTRA, WHY?!

While we understand that service fees are often a necessity to keep companies on their feet, this seems like a just a bit much.  While the festival is all about good vibes, PLUR style, those looking forward to the 2014 event don’t feel as though their wallets are being respected, especially with many having to worry about travel and lodging expenses.  There is already a “Boycott Ultra Music Festival” page created, currently nearing 5,000 likes.  The page’s description says it all:

Ultra Music Festival dangled $150 early bird tickets over our heads and laughed at us all as the server crawled along, eventually crashing. The price quickly rose to $500 per ticket and then miraculously, no one was experiencing slow downs and we could purchase with no issues. Seems a little too convenient, doesn’t it?

Don’t let Ultra push the fans around. Not only is $500 overpriced, but the way we were all slapped in the face by the price makes it even worse. Lets show them what a huge mistake they’ve made and BOYCOTT ULTRA. Do not fall for their bait and switch pricing scheme. The founders of Ultra do not deserve our hard earned money.

Now, THAT’S a rebellion.  Okay, so maybe it’s just a Facebook page that’s looking a little too far into conspiracy theories, but the people really just want to enjoy some fun DJ sets, and a ruined chance at cheaper tickets is just as unfair as the full-price ticket itself.  With all of the negative commentary, it’ll be interesting to see if the turnout actually declines for 2014.

Eight Mile Style has also complained to the ad agency, Wieden + Kennedy, but Guy Cohen, the agency’s attorney, said that Eminem’s “Under The Influence” was a copy of Michael Jackson’s “Give in to Me,” blaming Dr. Dre’s “history of copyright infringement.”  It’s getting sort of complicated here, but ”Under the Influence” was actually co-written with D12 and produced by the Bass Brothers, so that argument isn’t looking too great.

Eminem worked with Wieden + Kennedy in the past for a successful Chrysler ad, which just goes to show that no one is safe from Marshall Mathers’ sh*t list.  Except maybe his daughter, Hailie.  We can’t wait to see how this plays out!  You can watch the now altered Facebook ad in question below:

It is with great sadness that I must deliver the news that Trevor Bolder, the bassist for Uriah Heep and David Bowie’s “Spiders From Mars” band, has passed away after a long battle with cancer at age 62.  A heartbreaking statement from Uriah Heep reads:

“It is with great sadness that Uriah Heep announce the passing of our friend the amazing Trevor Bolder, who has passed away after his long fight with cancer. Trevor was an all time great, one of the outstanding musicians of his generation, and one of the finest and most influential bass players that Britain ever produced. His longtime membership of Uriah Heep brought the band’s music, and Trevor’s virtuosity and enthusiasm, to hundreds of thousands of fans across the world. He joined the band in 1976 and, barring one short break, was a fixture until his ill health forced him to take a step back early this year. Prior to joining Heep, he was a founder and ever-present member of David Bowie’s legendary Spiders from Mars band, performing on all of their key albums and at countless shows. He also performed with Wishbone Ash, Cybernauts and The Rats.”

Uriah Heep guitarist Mick Box added:

“Trevor was a world-class bass player, singer and songwriter, and more importantly a world-class friend. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and rock fans all over the world. We are all numb to the core.”

Our thoughts are with Bolder’s family, friends, and fans at this difficult time.  Rest in peace, Trevor, the “Tears Of The World” are all falling for you today.

WHAT?! WHY?! ROB HALFORD CAN’T BE HURT I LOVE HIM TOO MUCH!

Rob Halford, Judas Priest frontman, is generally known for showing up on a tricked out motorcycle to events and concerts.  But, unfortunately, time stands still for no one, not even the “Metal Messiah,” leaving Halford surprising everyone when he showed up to the May 14th screening of Priest’s new concert film, “Epitaph,” in a new set of wheels – a wheelchair!  But don’t worry too much, Halford assured “That Metal Show’s” Eddie Trunk that it was just temporary, as seen in the interview below.  He explains:

“It’s not as evil – well, it is evil.  I’m in agony right now.  But it’s just a back injury, it’s going to be fixed.  The Metal God will be bouncing back and everything will be great.”

Well, that’s good to hear!  Halford’s back issue is just the latest in a slew of problems surrounding the release of “Epitaph,” with Priest having to cancel the May 24th screening but promising fans in a joint statement:

“We’ll be holding a screening at the Soho Hotel, London, at 8pm on Friday. Tickets already issued will be honoured and those attending will also receive an advance copy of the DVD. Alternatively, a full refund will be offered by Ticketmaster. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Hopefully this incident is the last setback for the band, they deserve all of the happiness in the world!  Wishing Rob a fast and painless recovery, we’re rooting for you!

Daft Punk recently released their critically acclaimed Random Access Memories and it was only a matter of time before bonus tracks trickled out from the RAM sessions. This one coming off the Japanese release, “Horizon” is an acoustic driven track that sounds less like daft punk and more like a psychedelic ballad not too far off from sounding like something Pink Floyd may do. Every generation has guys that do that, none of that is new. They run the risk of disrespecting their audience members who have worked hard to pay for their ticket, to give you the permission to take two or three hours of their lives – or in that kid’s case, 80 minutes of their lives…Do it once, you can be forgiven. Do it enough times and shame on you. They won’t have you back. Then it just becomes a cliche. It’s really not cool – you’re an a–hole. Go to f–kin’ work!

Ooooh, SNAP.  But really, as fans of any artist, it’s hard to disagree with Bon Jovi’s main point: respect your audience.  An artist whose been so popular and well-liked for so long probably knows what he’s talking about, so we hope you’re taking notes, Biebz.  You don’t want to lose your fans and image this early in the game, though it seems like you’re on your way with new scandals constantly popping up.  Plus, it’s sort of hard to deny the negativity brought on by lack of punctuality, considering audience members are known to “boo” after waiting too long (isn’t that right, Rihanna?).

We’re curious to see if Bieber will have a defensive response, and even more curious to see if it will make any sense.  Just kidding, we know it won’t.

The one and only Cher, AKA The Queen of Everything, just turned 67 (yes, really,) and has officially announced the release date of her new single AND her 25th studio album! Quick, practice your hair flips!

My darling Jack McFarland has it down pat.

The apparent creator of the fountain of youth confirmed the new music via her official twitter page, saying:

Also featured on Cher’s new album will be collaborations withe superstars such as Pink, Timbaland, and Lady Gaga, who calls the partnership “the greatest thing.”  The new album will also feature the much-anticipated collaboration with Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, which Cher has said:

“Got to down & Finish last song ! Then it DONE !! Jakes here putting some parts down & a Harmony ! Must chech it out ! Later lovelies”

She continued:

“Played Jason(Jake shears)my cd before he sang on track.He said”it’s fkng amazing!”Gotta LOVE THAT! He SOUNDS SO COOL on Song,He’s Adorable!”

Can’t wait for the new album to drop, I’m sure it’s going to be just as amazing as ever! Happy belated birthday, Cher, you look INCREDIBLE, and always remember:

The video mainly features a young boy sprinting through the woods, with expected cuts to the band playing through the song.  We soon realize that the boy is simply playing pretend by himself…or is it pretend?  He must have a powerful imagination, because soon his stick “gun” is causing explosions and a pine cone grenade is sending him flying into the dirt.  He continues to run until he is caught up in crawling vines and ivy.  Can he escape?  Guess you’ll have to watch and find out.  Slow motion and black and white effects make their way into the video a few times for some ulta-oomph, if Ace Enders’ crazy-high notes weren’t already doing it for you.

The Early November also took over the Warped Tour Twitter today to answer fan questions, at one point replying to a music-hungry fan that ”we may already be done writing…” in reference to a new album.  Uh, HELL YES.

It is with complete devastation that I must report that Ray Manzarek, founding member and keyboardist for legendary rock band “The Doors,” has passed away at age 74.  In an official statement made by his publicist, Heidi Robinson-Fitzgerald, we are told that Manzarek died yesterday of bile duct cancer in Rosenheim, Germany surrounded by his family. John Densmore, fellow founding member of The Doors, released a heartbroken statement:

“There was no keyboard player on the planet more appropriate to support Jim Morrison’s words. Ray, I felt totally in sync with you musically. It was like we were of one mind, holding down the foundation for Robby and Jim to float on top of. I will miss my musical brother.”

Ray was responsible for some of the most recognizable tunes in rock history, with nearly everyone being able to identify the spidery organ part in the classic, “Light My Fire,” and the sleepy sounds on “Riders On The Storm.”  He will undoubtedly be remembered for not only his keyboard mastery, but his countless contributions to the music industry as a whole.  Rest in peace, Ray.
